A Volunteer’s Story

A Volunteer's Story1 Like so many Mission donors, Kirk Scoughton would visit occasionally to drop of clothing.

In June he became a volunteer as well as a donor.

One day, while dropping off some donations, Kirk noticed our garden boxes had gone fallow. “I asked the white haired guy (Geoff Walters, our Men’s Supervisor) if I could work the garden. He said OK.” So, Kirk planted some tomatoes and peppers.

Also, he started bringing his younger brother Kelly along.

On a recent visit to water and weed, he noticed that Garland Pegg’s memorial tree had died. At his expense Kirk bought and planted an apple tree.

A Volunteer's Story2Kirk and Kelly join more than 2500 Las Crucens who donated almost 40,000 volunteer hours at the Mission in 2015.

And thanks to volunteers like Kirk and Kelly who bless us daily, the Mission has been able to bless the lives of countless others over the past 43 years.
